Dancehall was not to be left out of the Superbowl on Sunday night, as a sample of Shabba Ranks and JC Lodge’s ‘Telephone Love (Deh Pon Mi Mind)’ was featured on a Diet Coke advertisement.

On one of the biggest nights in Sports in the United States, the Diet Coke brand appeared in a Superbowl primetime ad slot for the first time in over 21 years. With a 30 second commercial costing just over USD$5million, the Diet Coke 30 second commercial featured Australian actress Hayley Magnus wearing rasta colored (red, green and gold) socks, rocking with her diet coke to the sounds of Shabba Ranks.

The voice of Shabba Ranks was immediately identified by Jamaicans on social media.
